Research interests:
The group in Debrecen is interested in the design, synthesis and physico-chemical characterisation of novel, essential metal ion based (Mn2+, Fe3+, Fe2+, etc,) contrast agents for application in medical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We are currently exploring the possibilities of improvement of the physico-chemical properties (stability, inertness, etc.) of Mn2+ complexes formed with macrocyclic ligands with an aim of designing smart/responsive MRI and bimodal MRI/PET probes based on inert Mn2+ complexes. On the other hand, tuning the dissociation kinetic parameters of Gd3+-based MRI CA candidates is also an important avenue in our research.
