1. Development and characterization of new contrast agents for medical imaging applications (MRI, OI, PAI etc.) 2. Equilibrium properties of metal-complexes of biomedical importance. Combined pH-potentiometric and spectroscopic (UV-VIS, multinuclear NMR) studies on the equilibrium behaviour of metal complexes formed with open chain and macrocyclic ligands with different donor groups. 3. Kinetics and mechanisms of the formation and dissociation reactions of metal-complexes of biological interest near to physiological conditions. 4. NMR relaxometry to investigate the relationship between the chemical nature of the paramagnetic species in solution and their relaxation efficacy.
