The team Molecular Engineering & Nano-Objects of the Institute Charles Gerhardt Montpellier develop inorganic nanoprobes as contrast agents for MRI and imaging implants. The inorganic nano-objects or nanocomposites are mainly based on metal-oxide or coordination polymers. In addition to the conventional characterization of such nanomaterials, careful magnetic characterization coupled with relaxometry experiments are performed to fully characterize their potential as contrast agents for MRI. The most promising chemical nano-objects or nanocomposites are tested in vitro and in vivo on plants or small animals in the frame of research collaborations to study physiological or pathological problems.
