Research interests:
My research interests are based around inorganic metals/materials for imaging and disease sensing. These interested are split into various themes in three intertwining threads: small molecule development, nanoparticle systems and nanoscale device fabrication. Small molecule development involves the synthesis of novel chelates for imaging including Gd(III) complexes and radio metals such as 99mTc (SPECT), 68Ga (PET). Nanoparticle systems are being investigated as multimodal probes for prostate cancer detection, cardiovascular disease and diabetes imaging. Nanoscale device fabrication, based on plasmonics and lifetime resonance energy transfer is being used for detecting diseases using markers in the blood.
