Research interests:
My research is mainly focused on developing NMR methodologies for the study of monolayer-protected nanoparticles. In this context, my interests range from relaxation editing and NOE spectroscopy to more theoretical aspects of relaxation in nanosystems. Following a long-standing collaboration with prof. Alessandro Bagno, I have also become interested in DFT calculations of paramagnetic molecules and in paramagnetic relaxation enhancement induced by lanthanides in nanosystems. More recently I have also turned my attention to matrix-assisted NMR diffusometry. In the context of food chemistry, I have investigated the effects of thermal stress on edible oils via NMR and EPR and I am now interested in the NMR quantification of trace components in food matrices.
